Objectifs du cours :

The objective is to go a big step beyond the VBA Basic Training course and to give the candidates all the tools they might need to use VBA at a higher level and use all the Reuters objects available to them. The primary focus of this course will be on the different Reuters ActiveX objects available in PPPro and in Kobra. The candidates will have sufficient knowledge to understand how Reuters Products can evolve in the VBA environment.

This 4-days course provides advanced VBA knowledge (Excel, PPPro and Kobra VBA) for the candidates to understand how to handle advanced issues where the use of Reuters Desktop products in VBA is involved. It goes beyond the Basic training and focuses primarily on the Reuters objects.

Many relevant practical examples will be used. In order to keep the participant's attention, a clever mix between theory and practice will be used (i.e. learn & apply to something relevant immediately).

Examples will also use the latest Reuters Desktop Toolkit technology such as AdfinX, DEX and Kobra VBA.

- Simple "flat" file (like the preferences in Kobra)
- Real database (like Access, SQL Server, Oracle, …)
Kobra VBA examples
- Importing Forms from PPPro into Kobra
- Developing code directly in Kobra
- If possible, we'll discover and use the new ActiveX objects available in Kobra 4.5
AdfinX, SSL, DEX (Single and Multiple Instrument, SQL Queries, Time Series), ADO examples
Overview of Add-ins
Demo of VB (if useful and available)

Handling Arrays in Excel VBA by sorting RDW chains
Linking subs with RtUpdate
Calculating Analytics in VBA using AdfinX
Retrieving data from RDW using DEX
Retrieving data from RDW using ADO (DAO)
Linking ActiveX objects to Kobra objects
Kobra News window Infoworld example

Avant de commencer ce cours, les stagiaires doivent avoir :

Have a good working knowledge of Windows 95/98/Me or Windows NT 4.0/2000
Be familiar with PowerPlusPro and Kobra
Complete the "Reuters - VBA Basic Training" course
